What DiscoveredBy is
DiscoveredBy is a GEO and AEO platform: it shows a brand how AI answer engines discuss it, and how to get cited, recommended and measured.
For the prompts a brand’s buyers ask, it records whether AI answers name the brand, how they describe it and which pages they cite, and it turns what the answers show into page fixes, article drafts and technical checks for the brand’s own site.
Customers use it through the web app at app.discoveredby.ai, where each project tracks one website (Projects).
Who it is for
- For agencies: Agencies and consultants who track AI visibility for several client brands and report to each client on its own.
- For content teams: Content and SEO teams who need to know which pages to fix and what to write so AI answers cite their site.
- For PR teams: PR and communications teams who need to know how AI answers describe their brand, and to hear when that changes.
Engines and how they are collected
Tracked prompts run once a day on the engines a plan includes (Your first scan). Each engine below lists the plans that include it, and its own page lists its known limits.
ChatGPT
- ChatGPT (app) (consumer app): DataForSEO, a licensed data provider, puts the prompt to chatgpt.com in a session that is not signed in and returns the answer the page shows. Included in: Free, Starter, Growth, Pro.
Gemini
- Gemini (app) (consumer app): DataForSEO, a licensed data provider, puts the prompt to gemini.google.com in a session that is not signed in and returns the answer the page shows. Included in: Starter, Growth, Pro.
- Gemini (API) (model API): Our own call to Google’s Gemini API with Google Search grounding, with the target’s location written into the prompt. Included in: Free, Starter, Growth, Pro.
Perplexity
- Perplexity (model API): Perplexity’s Sonar API, with the sonar model and a medium search context size. Included in: Starter, Growth, Pro.
Google AI Overviews
- Google AI Overviews (Google search surface): DataForSEO, a licensed data provider, fetches Google’s results page for the prompt, with the AI Overview on it and the page’s organic results. Included in: Starter, Growth, Pro.
Google AI Mode
- Google AI Mode (Google search surface): DataForSEO, a licensed data provider, fetches Google AI Mode’s answer to the prompt from Google. Included in: Starter, Growth, Pro.
Grok
- Grok (model API): xAI’s API with web search, given the target’s location in its search tool’s location fields and in the prompt. Included in: Growth, Pro.
Claude
- Claude (model API): Anthropic’s API with its web search tool, given an approximate location for the target and the location in the prompt. Included in: Pro.
What it does
AI visibility
See whether AI answers name your brand for the prompts your buyers ask, checked every day on the engines your plan includes.
- Visibility, position and share of voice for your brand and the competitors you track, with a brand and its sub-brands counted once per answer.
- Run each prompt in a country or a city, in another language, or as a named buyer persona, and compare cities with their country on the Local view.
- See what an engine searched for behind its answer, sorted into eight categories, and whether the answer held shopping, local businesses, ads, video, images or tables.
- Prompt coverage recommends prompts you could pause while the sources and brands they see regularly are still seen by a prompt you keep.
Brand perception
Learn how AI answers describe your brand: the tone, the reasons they give, what you are known for, and the facts they get wrong.
- Sentiment for your brand and tracked competitors by collection channel, prompt segment and persona, plus a controlled comparison with one competitor.
- Brand reasons show why answers favour or caution against each brand, counted as strengths or weaknesses with the quote behind each one.
- Weekly studies ask engines why a buyer might not choose each brand and what each brand is best known for, with the quotes behind the answers.
- Fact check compares answers with the facts you approve and queues each contradiction, quoted and linked to its sources, for your team to review.
Sources and citations
See which pages AI answers cite for your prompts, and where a competitor is cited instead of you.
- Every citation is recorded with its answer and matched to your site by domain, and each cited domain shows how far it reaches across your prompts and how consistently.
- The Citation Gap Finder turns prompts where a competitor is cited and you are not into a ranked queue of specific changes to make.
- Retrieved vs cited separates the pages an engine returned from the ones its answer credited, one collection channel at a time.
- Track outreach to cited third-party pages, and see which social and review accounts engines cite, labelled as yours, a tracked competitor’s or unlabelled.
Optimize
Turn what the answers show into ranked page fixes, article drafts and technical checks for your own site.
- To do puts the open work from seven sources, from page fixes and citation gaps to alerts and fact check findings, in one list, highest priority first, and each button changes the item on its own page.
- Page fixes ranked with their impact, effort and confidence, each backed by saved source quotes, ready to export as a Markdown or PDF task packet.
- Article topics become a brief, then a draft with its claims checked against the sources it names, which you can send to WordPress as a draft, never published.
- Site audits compare raw HTML with a browser render, and robots.txt checks show the matching rule for five AI crawlers.
- The llms.txt Advisor audits your live llms.txt against the spec every week and writes out a compliant file.
Analytics
Answer your own questions about the collected answers, and connect AI visibility to your search and site traffic.
- The Explorer builds the chart you need from your answers, saves it as a view or dashboard, and shares a frozen snapshot link that expires.
- Analyst answers a plain-words question from Explorer queries, with every number filled in from the results shown under it.
- Search Console and Google Analytics 4 show your search performance, traffic with AI sessions counted first, and visits from each AI engine.
- AI crawler analytics reads your server or CDN logs to show which AI bots fetch your pages, which requests are verified as genuine, what errors they were served and which fetched pages answers cite.
- Export your data as CSV or JSON; a request too large to return is refused rather than cut short.
Alerts and reports
Hear about a real shift without watching a dashboard, and get a weekly report you can share with clients.
- The Visibility Watchdog checks every day and raises an alert only when a move is big enough to matter, showing why it fired.
- Acknowledge, dismiss or snooze an alert with a note the team sees, and owners choose daily or weekly alert email.
- A weekly report built from your own numbers with no model in the loop, to read on screen, by email or on paper.
- Share a client digest by a link that needs no sign-in, expires and can be revoked, or combine several clients into one report.

What it does not do
- The customer API and the MCP connector are read-only: neither can edit prompts, collect new answers, send messages or change an account (MCP connector, Customer API).
- This website’s comparison page compares DiscoveredBy with a typical score-only tracker, not with any named product (Compare). This is about the website only: inside the app, a project can track the competitors you add, on plans that include competitors (Competitors).
- Answers collected through a model API (Gemini (API), Perplexity, Grok and Claude) are API outputs, which can differ from what people see in that engine’s own app (Engines).
- ChatGPT (app) and Gemini (app) answers are collected in a session that is not signed in, so a signed-in person on their own device can see a different answer (Engines).
