Brand Mention
Any reference to your brand by name inside an AI-generated answer.
Definition
A brand mention is the basic unit of AI visibility. It can be a recommendation ("X is one of the best options"), a comparison ("similar to X"), a neutral reference, or even a critique. Tracking brand mentions across prompts and engines tells you whether AI considers your brand part of the conversation in your category, and how that perception changes over time.
Example
ChatGPT answers "best running shoes for flat feet" with five brands. If your brand is one of them, that's a brand mention. If it's not, that's a visibility gap.
