Gemini (app)

What a person who is not signed in sees on gemini.google.com, measured through a licensed data provider.

Definition

Gemini (app) is one of the engines DiscoveredBy measures, separate from Gemini (API). For each tracked prompt, a licensed data provider asks gemini.google.com the prompt in a session that is not signed in and returns the answer the page shows, tables included, with the web pages it cites in the order they appear. Google product and Google Maps place links among its sources are counted as shopping and local businesses, not as citations. Gemini decides for itself whether to search, so some answers cite no sources. Only the prompt, the country or a city’s coordinates and the language are sent: persona variants do not run on it, and city targets do. Gemini (API) is DiscoveredBy’s own call to Google’s Gemini API, so the two can be compared engine by engine.

Example

The same prompt, "best invoicing app for freelancers", can name one set of brands through Gemini (API) and another in the answer gemini.google.com shows a visitor, which is what Gemini (app) records.
